When my husband, Kris, and I first started dating, we both struggled to make all of our personal goals, projects, and interests meet. The one and only thing we lacked was time. We shared many interests in photography, animals, and art, so you can imagine our minds were always racing with new ideas and new ‘to-do’ lists. While balancing a full-time semester of college, a part-time job, taking care of three boys, and watching Kris pour endless hours of work towards his VP of Sales and Marketing position at work, I constantly found myself feeling stressed and pressed for time. Each and every time this happened, I would tell Kris, ‘No, we don’t have the time.’ We don’t have the time to travel, to go out on endless photography adventures, or to remodel the house. Every time I did this, Kris answered with the same words, ‘The time we have is the time we make.’ From this mindset, we were able to budget our time according to our aspirations. There is always time to succeed, time to move, and time to live out your goals and dreams. We put aside the stress and started balancing our time. We began a photography business together ranging from newborn sessions to weddings (and everything in between) and we even began volunteering our time to a local animal rescue giving cats and dogs vaccinations, medicines, and adoption photos.
Here we are, two years later, and we are living out our goals and dreams. We just recently had a son who had to spend four months in the NICU due to an intestinal atresia. During this time, I was enrolled in 15 credit hours at a nearby university. Part of my semester was spent towards the end of my pregnancy with Emerson, while the other half was spent running to the hospital to see my son between classes. I made all A’s that semester.
Why? Because I managed my time. I set goals for myself. I set tasks and I finished them.
I did not give up, no matter how many times I felt defeated.
Over the past two years, I have worked countless hours, completed four consecutive full-time semesters of college (as well as summer classes), had our baby boy, traveled to 8 different countries, 11 different U.S. states, and built on our photography business. Most importantly, however, I have joined with John and Kris to create something amazing. TIMEbudget is a business built on motivation, organization, and task management in order to achieve your needs AND wants.
